From the eastern side of Cleveland, Ohio comes a band years in the making. With only one intention in mind, domination. A full head-on collision of sound and fury. Color of Dawn is on the uprise. The very allusion of the bands name means out of darkness and into glory. Songs of hardship, loss, and empowerment. An event as indescribable as the morning sky, Color of Dawn has to be witnessed first hand in order to be fully captured and comprehended.
Formed in late '98 by guitarist Jason Kurzinger & drummer Josh Roscart, the first incarnation of the band was called Seventh Day (after a few trial names). Bassist Josh Riehl joined the band in the summer of '99 along with vocalist Bill Page.
Seventh Day went on to play a couple shows at Peabody's Down Under including the Battle of the Bands in which they tied for first place. However, due to creative differences and lack of dedication on the part of Mr. Page, his position in the band was terminated in the fall of 2000.
The band proceeded to work on instrumental recordings of their six songs with Jason producing, while searching for a new vocalist but everything seemed to be moving very slowly now, almost completely falling apart on several occasions. It wasn't until late in 2002 when things finally started to look up again.
Enter Joe Warnick, a close friend of the band's since it's inception. In the spring of 2003, the band really started to practice again and everything started to feel right. It was then that the decision was made to switch the name of the band to Color Of Dawn, completely putting and end to the "Bill Page Era" of the band. They started recording a five song EP of cover songs entitled Covering The Past in the summer, which was given out to about twenty of the band's closest friends who had always supported them. This was more or less done for fun and to test Joe out. They wanted to let him get a feel for recording with some songs he was "comfortable" with and basically see how well his performance could be. By the end of recording in late fall of 2003, they were convinced Joe was the right guy for the job and now it was time to work on the lyrics for their own songs again, but with Joe.
2004 started out with the band deciding to write some new tunes. Three new songs in all and two heavily reworked old songs. After a leave of absence by Joe in mid 2004 to deal with personal issues, the band is back together, stronger than ever and firing on all cylinders. With their first show in five years booked on April 15 at Peabody’s opening for Burning Vegas and Shenoah, more will follow soon after and it looks to be that 2005 will be the year that all their hard work and endurance will finally start to pay off.
